With more people striving to live longer and more students needing to keep up with our fast-paced world, this session will compile the most recent research on the cognitive benefits of piano instruction for school-aged children and Seniors alike. This session will focus on the need for school systems to incorporate the piano as a necessary instrument to be taught in all schools and Senior programs. Michelle Trimper will discuss piano benefits for Seniors and will provide the history of Denton Cottier and Daniels' Getzville piano store and give a tour of the showroom pianos. Robin Carlisi will discuss the recent research about piano instruction, its cognitive benefits as it relates to academics, and why the critical age to start piano lessons is before the age of seven.
