COSMIC VOIDS

This fall, we are pairing our popular monthly sky tours with astronomy topic talks and full dome
planetarium presentations. Each evening will begin with an immersive planetarium presentation about
a different astronomical topic. Next, we will take you on a tour of the current skies, highlighting visible
planets, deep sky objects, and any upcoming special astronomical events. Feel free to ask your
astronomy questions throughout the night! (Ages 10 – Adult)

Step into the vast, mysterious regions of the universe known as cosmic voids—immense, empty spaces
between the galaxy clusters that make up most of the cosmos. In this engaging and accessible
community education class, participants will explore what cosmic voids are, how they form, why they
matter in our understanding of the universe's structure and evolution, and discuss new theories that
suggest our own Milky Way may very well be in a void, too! With visualizations and simple scientific
explanations, this course is perfect for anyone curious about astronomy, cosmology, or the mind-
bending scale of the universe.
