Notice: Special Scouting BSA Astronomy Merit Badge Night for registered Scouts ages 11-17 only.  Please take note that this is NOT a general public program or a Cub/Webelo program - please see our other scout show offerings if your boys or girls are not of age to take the merit badge.  There is specific curriculum to be covered and the course is 2.5 hours long.  Make sure that all registered scouts plan to stay the full duration and that at least two adult leaders accompany each Troop. Thanks for your consideration and we'll see you under the stars!
Discover the heavens with a live, interactive and hands-on experience that will both familiarize your Troop with the night sky as well complete most* of the requirements for the astronomy merit badge.  Track the moon and planets across the sky, investigate the clockwork of the solar system that allows for rare and amazing eclipses, point out constellations, bright stars and learn about the telescopic tools of astronomy that help advance one of the most fascinating disciplines in science today. (Ages 11-17 plus adult leaders)
*please have Scouts arrive with:
-a hand drawing (not a photo or a computer printout) of the full moon with 5 craters and 5 seas (mare) labeled.
-a chart of when the 5 visible planets (Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn) will be visible in the evening sky (after sunset/dusk) for the next year.  This should be created by you, the scout, and should not be a printout of an existing chart online.
