FEBRUARY SKY TOUR - HOW WE KNOW

ID : 58506
« back to classes page
This winter and spring, we are pairing our popular monthly sky tours with astronomy topic talks and full dome planetarium shows.  We will take you on a tour of the current skies, highlighting visible planets, deep sky objects, and any upcoming special astronomical events. Once you've had your introductory tour, feel free to ask your astronomy questions! We'll use our state of the art planetarium visualization system to take you to see objects of curiosity and wonder.  Each evening will conclude with an immersive planetarium presentation about a different astronomical topic.

Have you ever heard news of a scientific discovery and thought “Oh c’mon…how can they know something like that?”   The tools that astronomers have at their disposal are numerous and cutting-edge.  Many facts can be ascertained by using telescopes that view frequencies of light that our eyes cannot see, observational data from the latest high-tech space probes as well as pure math and physics.  Learn some of the amazing techniques that astronomers use every day as we explain precisely How We Know.
