MAY SKY TOUR - PIONEERING VOYAGES TO NEW HORIZONS: WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

ID : 58510
« back to classes page
This winter and spring, we are pairing our popular monthly sky tours with astronomy topic talks and full dome planetarium shows.  We will take you on a tour of the current skies, highlighting visible planets, deep sky objects, and any upcoming special astronomical events. Once you've had your introductory tour, feel free to ask your astronomy questions! We'll use our state of the art planetarium visualization system to take you to see objects of curiosity and wonder.  Each evening will conclude with an immersive planetarium presentation about a different astronomical topic.

Pioneer 11 and 12; Voyager 1 and 2. Throughout the 70’s and 80’s these four probes gave us a revolutionary perspective on our solar system. As of 2019, all four have traveled beyond the influence of our sun - what can we still learn from them?  And, how long before New Horizons, which flew by Pluto in 2015, joins them?
